An exciting Caol Ila single malt, distilled in 1980 and laid to rest for 40 years in a refill hogshead that yielded 206 bottles at an impressive cask strength of 54.6% ABV. Released under the Xtra Old Particular series by Douglas Laing in 2021, this single cask bottling proves to be tremendous as the Islay peat smoke fades and the spirit’s quality shines through.
