In 2021, Bowmore teamed up with renowned graphic artist Frank Quitely to create a limited series of exceptionally expressive single malts. The first series, No Corners to Hide, draws inspiration from a legend deeply tied to Islay folklore. The story, dating back to 1676, tells of the devil being chased from the cornerless round Kilarrow Church, through Bowmore village, and into the distillery – where he seemingly vanished, possibly escaping in a whisky cask.
This 32-year-old expression is one of two releases in the series, matured for 30 years in ex-bourbon American oak hogsheads, then finished for two years in Essencia barriques made from ‘Rose Oak,’ a rare wood type dating back to the 1830s. Each bottle is accompanied by a signed Quitely print, along with original sketches and notes on its creation.
