Introducing the Antipodes Collection by French spirits merchant La Maison du Whisky, this series comprises four cask strength, single cask Chichibu single malts. Each release was aged in a different cask style, showcasing the distillery’s expertise in crafting different temperaments from the same distillate – like a persona with many facets. To highlight the collection’s multifaceted nature, the labels feature abstract self-portraits by Japanese artist Aki Kuroda, each depicting a different “face” of the artist, chosen by LMDW.
This expression is distilled in 2013 from a blend of Braemar, Concerto, Tipple and Propino barley, then matured in cask #9664 which once held local wine made from Koshu grapes, yielding just 263 bottles. It opens with a herbaceous freshness, then explores the slopes of vines, adding depth and vibrancy to its fruity, floral, and spicy profile.
