Hibiki, meaning “harmony” in Japanese, was created in 1989 to honor Suntory’s 90th anniversary. Since then, it has become a celebrated icon of The Art of Japanese Whisky, embodying the essence of Japanese nature and craftsmanship. Hibiki is a harmonious blend of malt and grain whiskies from three renowned distilleries – Yamazaki, Hakushu, and Chita – meticulously crafted to deliver a symphony of flavors and aromas. With unprecedented demand for Japanese whiskies leading to the discontinuation of most age statements, many aged expressions have sadly been retired from the Hibiki portfolio, including the award-winning Hibiki 17-year-old.
This 17-year-old limited edition carries the name “Kacho Fugetsu,” which translates to flowers, birds, breeze, and moon in Japanese. Its bottle design brings these elements to life as a tribute to the beauty of Japanese nature, featuring cranes and chrysanthemum which is Japan’s national flower. Released in 2016 as a travel retail exclusive, only 600 of these rare decanters were crafted.
