Grand Hyatt Tokyo has teamed up with the Chichibu Distillery to release its first Japanese whisky: Ichiro’s Malt & Grain Maduro. This single cask blended whisky is named after the hotel’s Maduro lounge, with the bar staff personally selecting its components. It is a vatting of 10- to 20-year-old whiskies from Japan, Ireland, Scotland, Canada, and the U.S., matured for three years in a French oak wine barrel, where it gained rich plum fruitiness, warm cinnamon notes, and a smooth vanilla finish. With just 256 bottles produced, the popularity of Chichibu and the Grand Hyatt’s clientele ensures these won’t remain available for long.”
