A prestige cuvée from Moët & Chandon, MCIII is a unique assemblage of various vintages, or what MC calls “the Champagne of the third millennium.” “III” represents the three distinct ageing vessels used to create this blend, capturing the chemistry between grape varieties and wine-ageing environments in a single, harmoniously complex champagne.
The first 37.5% is a 50/50 blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from 2003, aged in stainless steel tanks. The next 37.5% comprises Grand Vintage blends (approximately 40% Chardonnay, 37% Pinot Noir, and 23% Pinot Meunier) from 2002, 2000, and 1998, aged in old oak vats. Finally, the remaining 25% features Grand Vintage Collection champagnes from 1999, 1998, and 1993, aged in bottle before being blended into the MCIII assemblage.
NOSE
Rich aromas of coffee, malt, mocha, licorice, nuts, and pastries take the lead. The vibrant fruitiness of the wine then takes over, offering hints of citrus peel, kumquat, and verbena.
PALATE
The wine reveals its maturity and depth through a lively, silky opulence. Fruity notes of candied citrus, dried fig, and dates blend seamlessly with warm spices like vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
