Springbank’s Countdown Collection is an annual series leading up to the distillery’s 200th anniversary in 2028, with a new release introduced each year until the milestone is reached. This expression kicks off the celebratory series, released in 2023 as the first in the collection. Aged for 27 years, it is a blend of one refill bourbon cask and two refill sherry casks, with only 500 bottles available.
NOSE
Bright and fresh on the nose, with aromas of custard cream, citrusy notes, apricot, and a hint of toasted coconut.
PALATE
The fruity notes persist, enhanced by the velvety, buttery texture of the whisky. A delightful blend of stewed apples, buttercream, and honey gives way to glazed apricots and subtle hints of orange peel.
FINISH
The finish reveals spice and nuttiness, with notes of gingerbread and pecans. A herbaceous quality of dried tea leaves emerges, while a lively lemon kick provides a refreshing tang towards the end.
