Taketsuru is a signature label honoring Masataka Taketsuru, the founder of Nikka and a pioneer of Japanese whisky-making. As a “pure malt,” it blends whiskies from Nikka’s two distilleries, expertly combining the bold, smoky character of Yoichi with the mellow, fruity notes of Miyagikyo. Among the acclaimed Taketsuru range is this exceptional 21-year-old expression, having earned the title of ‘World’s Best Blended Malt Whisky’ at the World Whiskies Awards multiple times. Discontinued alongside the other age-statement whiskies, the 21-year-old, too, succumbed to the soaring global demand for Japanese whisky.

This particular 21-year-old release is a vintage bottling, believed to have been introduced to the Japanese market in the 90s. It comes in a square decanter, elegantly adorned with a gold chain around its neck.
