A rare bottling from the lost gem of Port Ellen distillery on Islay, this is the eleventh release in Diageo’s Special Releases series. It is a robust, smoke-infused masterpiece distilled in 1979, spent 32 years maturing before being bottled at a hefty cask strength of 53.9% ABV. Inside, it holds a remarkable array of aromas and flavors seldom found in today’s single malts. With only 2,988 bottles produced, it stands as one of the last remaining Port Ellen whiskies on the market.
NOSE
A refined, elegant peat, mingling with citrus fruits and spices.
PALATE
A captivating sweet and sour flavor profile from citrusy lemon and exotic fruit like mango, with spices gradually revealing. Peat is much more vivid than on the nose.
FINISH
Smooth and enduring, with a wet briny smoke that lingers.
